Ryan Air In Costa Blanca No Fuel Near Miss

A Ryanair jet with 138 passengers and six crew aboard was just 30 minutes away from running out of fuel as it made an emergency landing in bad weather.

And last night a pilots' union called for an investigation into the airline's operations procedures.

The Boeing 737 from Stansted aborted two attempts to land at Alicante on the Costa Blanca and was diverted to Valencia, 20 minutes away.

The pilot put out a Mayday call to the control tower at Valencia to clear runways and landed safely.

Spanish aviation investigators later found the central fuel tank was empty and two other tanks held just 910 kilograms after the drama on May 14.

A Spanish pilots' association spokesman said: "Ryanair needs to improve its fuelling policy."

But the Irish Civil Aviation Authority said: "Ryanair have not broken any regulations."

Well Thats quiet horrific by anyone's standards as right now that is all Costa Blanca needs and it certainly wouldnt have helped the properties for sale in Spain & Costa Blanca.
