A lot has been written about the different property markets but the reality is you can still buy something very nice in Costa Blanca for under €100,000 where you just can’t do that in Costa del Sol. This is very much the case in Marbella but you could make the same argument about Javea in Costa Blanca North where property prices have held up and you are almost getting to Costa del Sol prices in Javea and Moraria.
This is why I believe the future will be in Costa Blanca property for those UK Citizens who want a holiday home in Spain. The reality as were already seeing in Costa del Sol is you really need at least €170,000 to get anything really nice in Costa del Sol but around €90,000 gets you something really nice in Costa Blanca.
The real question we don’t know the answer to is what happens when the Costa del Sol buyer finally come to terms with the fact they cant afford a home in Costa del Sol and especially Marbella. What will they do, will they decide to go to Costa Blanca or try another country completely? Personally I don’t think they will try another country because once Spain is in your blood its there to stay but the first part should be interesting in 2011 as reality sets in about the real value of Spanish property.
